The Powerball lottery draw was scheduled for Saturday, October 1st and it had a jackpot of about $325.4 million that came with a cash option of around $171.1 million.
Jackpot for Monday grows
The winning numbers for the Powerball lottery on Saturday night were 08, 21, 22, 65 and 65. 26 was the Powerball number, while 2X was the Power Play for the draw.
Unfortunately, no one was able to match all six numbers to win the massive Powerball lottery jackpot on Saturday night, which means that the prize will now roll over to the next draw.
The next draw of the Powerball lottery is scheduled for Monday, October 3rd and it will now have an impressive jackpot of $336 million and it will come with a cash value of $176.7 million.
Instant millionaires
While the grand prize may have gone unclaimed in Saturday night’s Powerball lottery draw, it does not mean that there were no winners at all.
There were a number of winners that took home prizes and Saturday night’s draw saw two Powerball lottery players become instant millionaires as well.
These players managed to hit the Match 5, which means that they would receive a prize worth $1 million. This is certainly what happened with the player from Wisconsin.
However, the other player from Florida who also hit the Match 5 had decided to purchase the Power Play option as well.
Since it was 2X, it meant that the lucky winner was able to double his winnings to $2 million instead of just $1 million.
Smaller prizes
Apart from the two instant millionaires, there were a number of other players who were able to take home smaller monetary prizes from the Powerball draw on Saturday.
These included twelve lucky players who were able to hit the Match 4 and the Powerball number as well. This allowed them to win $50,000 each.
There were also four players who not only hit the Match 4 and the Powerball number, but also opted for the 2X Power Play purchase.
Therefore, they were able to take home $100,000 each, instead of the usual $50,000. The rest of the prizes in Saturday night’s Powerball draw were between $4 and $200.
The total number of Powerball lottery players who took home a prize on Saturday night were 673,118.
The latest lottery draw comes after a $50,000 prize was taken home by a player from Indiana. The winning ticket was bought for Saturday night’s drawing from a Speedway in Plymouth.
The Powerball lottery draws are conducted each week, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. In order to win the jackpot, players have to match all six numbers that are drawn.
