On Wednesday afternoon, the winners’ room of the National Lottery had celebrations happening in full swing, when a great-granny from Wexford came to collect the top prize of €500,000 in EuroMillions plus.
Lost ticket
When Nuala Croke came to the headquarters of the National Lottery to collect her impressive prize, she decided to bring her group of family and friends along in order to celebrate her win.
She also disclosed that she had almost lost the lucky ticket. She said that she had gone to the shop for buying some milk, bread and a pack of biscuits.
Since she had some money left over, she decided to buy a line of a EuroMillions plus ticket. She said that when they announced the winning shop, she did not believe she was the winner.
She thought she had purchased the ticket at another shop. She said her friend Bridget had told her to check the ticket because she thought she had won.
The great-grandmother revealed that she could not locate the ticket when she tried looking for it. Luckily, she found it in her purse a couple of days later.
She called some friends at home and then called the National Lottery Claims Department. This is when she was informed that she had won €500,000.
The winner said that the whole room began cheering and roaring and it was great.
Plans for the win
Nuala had bought the quick pick winning ticket in Wexford at Corrigan’s Spar Supermarket located on Main Street, Oulert, Gorey, on the day of the draw.
When asked about her plans for the prize, she said that she would share it with her family members. She stated that she had ten children as well as twenty grandchildren.
She also has five great-grandchildren and was looking forward to spoiling all of them.
Meanwhile, the EuroMillions draw on Friday, September 2nd, finally saw its €128 million jackpot being won.
It appears that a lucky player from the United Kingdom managed to match all the numbers in the draw to win the jackpot.
There was also an Irish punter who managed to win the second prize in the same draw, as they managed to match five numbers and one Lucky Star number, allowing them to walk away with €193,667.
