A Dublin family syndicate recently came forward to claim their life-changing Irish Lotto jackpot worth €2.3 million.
The winners said that they intend to live their life as normally as possible after the win. The family said that they wanted to keep their identity private.
They had bought the winning ticket on Wednesday, October 13th i.e. the day of the draw in Mount Merrion from a family-run newsagent XL.
They officially came in on October 20th to collect the cheque from the Winners Room at the National Lottery.
The responses
One of the family members said that they had not actually believed they had won until they saw the cheque. They added that they believed someone would just come up and say it was only a big joke.
The family member said that they had never seen so many zeroes together in their life and it seemed like a bank account number, rather than real money.
Another member of the family syndicate added that they were planning on keeping their cool and just wanted to pay off their mortgage and make some repairs to their house.
They said that they had not made any other big plans as yet because they wanted to keep their life as normal as possible for now.
Other winners
The Dublin family syndicate is just one of the three recent jackpot winners who have won prizes within 10 days of one another.
The Irish Lotto draw on Wednesday, October 19th, 2022 did not see any jackpot winner, so the prize will now roll over to the next draw on Saturday, October 22nd, which will have a jackpot of about €2.5 million.
National Lottery
A spokesperson for the National Lottery said that it was an exciting time for lottery players because the last five draws had seen three people win the jackpot.
The spokesperson said that the back-to-back jackpot wins had kicked off on October 5th, when a lucky punter hailing from Co. Meath had managed to scoop up the jackpot of about €8.9 million.
The next Wednesday another player managed to win a jackpot of €2.3 million when they bought their ticket in Mount Merrion and it was only three days later that another player won the lotto jackpot worth €2 million from Co. Wexford.
This had happened in the draw conducted on Saturday, October 15th, 2022. The spokesperson said that the winner from Meath had also gotten in touch with the Claims Department.
However, they also revealed that the Wexford winner had not yet made contact for the €2 million jackpot. Therefore, they were urging all players in Wexford to check their tickets and then get in touch.
