In a move that some would regard as risky, an enthusiastic lottery player hailing from Virginia purchased 40 lottery tickets and every single one of them had the same four numbers. The risk paid off for this man, as he ended up winning big. As per the Virginia Lottery officials, every ticket managed to win a prize of $5,000, which brought his total winnings to a whopping $200,000. Michael Raines from Petersburg was the lucky player.
According to a news release, Michael is employed as a dump truck operator, but now he can afford to purchase his own dump truck, in case he wants one. He told the lottery officials that it was his time to shine and that he had known he was going to win, but just didn’t know when. It was earlier in the summer that Raines had decided to buy 40 Pick 4 tickets at the Little Foods Market in Petersburg, which is just 20 miles of Richmond.
As per the rules of the game, players have to choose four numbers that are between 0000 and 9999. Raines had decided to use 1220. Officials disclosed that these numbers had a special meaning for Raines because they are the date that his mother passed away. The lucky lottery winner said that it was like his mother was looking out for him. He did not disclose details of how he intends to spend his winnings. Each of the 40 tickets were priced at $1 and the top prize in the Pick 4 game is $5,000 per ticket. Lottery officials reported that the chances of matching all the four numbers in the same order are 1 in 10,000.
