After a rather eventful January, the Mega Millions lottery drawings for the month of February are proving to be quite uneventful.
The latest Mega Millions Lottery draw was conducted on Friday, February 17th, 2023 and had a jackpot of $84 million, which came with a cash option of $44 million.
No jackpot winner
The winning numbers that were drawn in the Mega Millions Lottery on Friday were 02, 33, 38, 57 and 70, while 13 was the gold Mega Ball and 3X was the Megaplier.
Unfortunately, none of the players were able to match the right numbers for winning the big prize, which means it is going to roll over to the next drawing of the game.
The next Mega Millions Lottery draw is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 21st, 2023 and it will have a jackpot of $104 million, which comes with a cash option of $53.1 million.
Other winners
Not only were there no winners for the grand prize in Friday night’s Mega Millions lottery draw, there were no instant millionaires either.
Unfortunately, none of the players were able to hit the Match 5, which would have allowed them to win a prize of $1 million, which could have increased to $3 million with the Megaplier.
Nonetheless, there were players who did manage to win smaller prizes in the Mega Millions lottery drawing on Friday.
There were a total of 14 players who were able to hit the Match 4 with the gold Mega Ball, which allowed them to win $10,000 each.
The good news is that five of these players had also opted for the Megaplier option with their tickets, which helped them win a prize of $30,000 each.
The rest of the prizes that were won in Friday night’s Mega Millions lottery drawing were between $2 and $1,500.
There were a total of 550,000 winning tickets that were sold at all prize levels for the Mega Millions lottery drawing on Friday night.
Historic January
The February drawings come after January proved to be rather historic for the Mega Millions lottery, given that there were a total of four jackpot wins.
It started with a win in the drawing held on January 13th that saw a player win $1.348 billion from Maine and then wins on January 17th, 24th and 31st, as players from New York and Massachusetts landed prizes.
Winners of the grand prize in the Mega Millions lottery are given the option of claiming their winnings as a lump sum, in which case they receive the cash value, or they can opt for an annuity.
The latter means that they receive one immediate payment and then 29 payments that rise 5% every year.
The Mega Millions Lottery drawing is held in 45 states, the US Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia and the draws happen twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday.
