Two city workers from St. Louis bought the winning Powerball ticket in July.
The couple, Catherine & Tom Rae work as the court administrator and for the department of corrections respectively as broadcasted today at a news conference.
Mr. Rae has worked for the city for the past 40 years and is 62; his wife has been the administrator for 10 years and is 61.
On Independence Day their ticket was purchased from St. Louis Gas Station where it was later confirmed that they had won after scanning their ticket. The employee at the Gas Station told him that Tom he had hauled it in after he checked the ticket again.
He called his wife to ask her what color Bentley she wanted after they won because they had previously visited a dealership in the hopes that they could buy one someday. His wife was not amused and threatened to hit him with her crutch if he was fooling around with her. She had recently broken her heel.
The jackpot numbers were 24, 18, 14, 6, & 3, and the Powerball number was 21 making it the ninth largest win in Missouri to date.
