The officials of the California Lottery reported today that the Powerball winner from Simi Valley has claimed his jackpot prize.
A man used eight quarters that he took from his deceased wife’s savings jar to purchase a ticket at Simi Valley Smoke Shop, 2902 Cochran Street for his son. This 87 year old man bought the jackpot ticket for his son Eric Taguchi.
The winning ticket he bought matched five of the six numbers; 35, 16, 13, 3, and 2, from the drawings held last week. Five numbers were also matched by another player in San Diego as well and the combined winnings earned were $1,289,012. This amount will be divided equally for both winners, each person will receive $644,506 reported the lottery officials.
The lottery officials said that Eric Taguchi reported that he will use his winnings to help with college education for his three children.
