A lucky winner in Canada will have more reasons to celebrate this holiday season all because they have a winning lottery ticket.
The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) made an announcement that a lucky lotto player had bought a winning ticket in the Lotto 6/49 draw conducted on Wednesday, December 22nd, 2022.
The winner
According to the BCLC, the ticket purchase had been made in Surrey, BC and it was the only ticket in the country that was able to match all the six numbers that were drawn on Wednesday night.
The Canada Lotto 6/49 lottery is held twice a week, every Wednesday and Saturday. On Wednesday, December 22nd, 2022, the winning numbers that were drawn were 29, 34, 37, 38, 42 and 49.
This means that the winner who matched all the six numbers was able to claim the Classic Jackpot, which makes them richer by $5 million.
The details
According to the BCLC, the odds of anyone winning the Classic Jackpot are about 1 in 13,893,316, which means that the lucky Canadian must undoubtedly be on the top of the nice list of Santa this year.
This is undeniably an early Christmas present for the winner. The BCLC further dictated that all lottery prize winners have a duration of 52 weeks to come forward for claiming their prize.
This starts from the date of the draw, which is printed on their lottery ticket.
The BCLC will disclose the specific retail location from where the winner bought the ticket, along with the name of the lottery winner, after they come forward for claiming the prize.
This year, BC lottery players have been able to win prizes of about $111 million in total from the Lotto 6/49 draw.
