On Saturday, the Mega Millions lottery announced that its jackpot for the upcoming draw on Tuesday has topped a whopping $500 million. This happened after the jackpot rolled over once again, since there were no winners of the top prize during Friday’s draw.

Friday’s draw

The winning numbers for the Mega Millions draw on July 15th, Friday were 08, 20, 26, 53 and 64, while 15 was the Megaball. 5X was the Megaplier. The jackpot for the draw was valued at about $480 million, but there were no winners.

But, even if no one was able to take the grand prize home, there were other winners in Friday night’s draw. One ticket holder hailing from Bakersfield, California was able to match all the five numbers in the draw. This allowed them to win an impressive $973,668. The ticket had been purchased from the Albertsons supermarket located on Mt. Vernon Avenue.

There were 28 other people who managed to match the four numbers in the Mega Millions draw on Friday, along with the Megaball, to win the third prize.

Next draw

The next Mega Millions draw is now scheduled for Tuesday, July 19th and its jackpot has climbed to a whopping $530 million. It can either be claimed as a one-time lump sum payment of about $307.4 million, or annual payments can also be opted for.

If anyone manages to claim it on Tuesday, this would make it the eighth largest Mega Millions jackpot to be paid out in the lottery’s history. It should be noted that there has been no winner for the Mega Millions jackpot after April 15th, when $20 million were claimed by a ticket holder in Tennessee. It marked the second time for the jackpot to be won in two drawings.

The highest Mega Millions jackpot was around $1.537 billion that had been won in October 2018 by a lucky ticket holder in South Carolina. As far as this year’s jackpots are concerned, there have been several impressive ones. On January 28th, a $426 million jackpot was paid out to a winner in California, while a lottery player in New York won $128 million on March 8th. On April 12th, a player from Minnesota also won $110 million.

The Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Saturday in 45 states, along with the U.S. Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia.
