February turned out to be an unlucky month for players of the Mega Millions lottery drawing, even though January had turned out to be quite lucky.
This is because there were no winners of the Mega Millions Lottery jackpot in the month of February, while there had been four jackpot wins recorded in January.
The last Mega Millions lottery drawing for the month of February took place on Tuesday, 28th February, 2023 and it had a jackpot of $145 million, which came with a cash option of $73.4 million.
No jackpot winner
The winning numbers that were drawn in Tuesday night’s Mega Millions lottery drawing were 14, 16, 40, 52 and 59, while 13 was the gold Mega Ball and 2X was the Megaplier.
Unfortunately, none of the players were able to watch the numbers needed for landing the biggest prize in the draw, which means it will now roll over.
The next drawing of the Mega Millions lottery will now take place on Friday, March 3rd, 2023 and it will now have a jackpot of $167 million that will come with a cash value of $84.5 million.
Smaller prizes
Even though there was no winner for the grand prize in Tuesday night’s Mega Millions lottery drawing, there was one player that did manage to become an instant millionaire.
Hailing from Virginia, one of the players in Tuesday’s Mega Millions lottery drawing hit the Match 5, which landed them a prize of $1 million.
But, since the player did not buy the Megaplier option with their ticket, they were not able to double their prize to $2 million.
There were also ten players who were able to hit the Match 4 and also the gold Mega Ball in the Mega Millions lottery draw on Tuesday, which saw them win a prize of $10,000 each.
But, since none of them opted for the Megaplier, they were unable to double their prizes. The rest of the prizes in Tuesday night’s drawings were between $2 and $1,000.
Previous win
This latest Mega Millions lottery draw comes after a winning ticket was purchased in South Carolina worth $40,000.
The player was able to hit the Match 4 and also the gold Mega Ball, which enabled them to win $10,000, but they had also opted for the Megaplier option with their ticket.
The Megaplier for the previous draw had been 4X, which meant that they were able to increase their prize to $40,000.
The winning ticket for the Mega Millions lottery drawing on Friday had been bought in Anderson from a Food Lion.
The Mega Millions lottery drawings are conducted two times in a week, every Tuesday and Friday and players from 45 states, the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands can participate.
