The latest Mega Millions lottery drawing was conducted on Friday, December 16th, 2022, and it had a jackpot of $429 million, which had a cash value of $231 million.
Jackpot rolls over
The winning numbers that were drawn in Friday night’s Mega Millions lottery were 08, 35, 40, 53 and 56, with 11 being the gold Mega Ball and 3X as the Megaplier.
Unfortunately, there were no players who were able to match all the six numbers required to take home the jackpot, which means that the prize will now roll over to the next drawing.
The next Mega Millions lottery draw is now scheduled to happen on Tuesday, December 20th, 2022 and the jackpot for the draw has now shot up to $465 million.
Other winners
Even though the grand prize was not win in Friday night’s drawing of the Mega Millions lottery, there were other prizes that were won.
There was only one player that was able to become an instant millionaire in the Mega Millions drawing on Friday night, as they managed to hit the Match 5.
This player was from California and they won a prize of $1 million. Had they also bought the Megaplier option with their ticket, they would have increased their winnings to $3 million.
There were also 21 players who were able to hit the Match 4 and the gold Mega Ball in Friday night’s Mega Millions lottery drawing.
This helped them to land a prize of $10,000 each. There were also three players who were able to hit the Match 4, the gold Mega Ball and also bought the Megaplier option.
This meant that they were able to walk away with a prize of $30,000 each in Friday night’s drawing. Other winners in the Mega Millions lottery draw on Friday won a prize between $2 and $1,500.
Tickets to expire
There are also two winning Mega Millions lottery tickets that are scheduled to expire in the coming month.
Each of these tickets is worth $1 million and the ticket holders are both from Texas. The tickets are for the Mega Millions lottery drawing that was conducted on July 29th, 2022.
Players usually have 180 days from the drawing’s date to make a claim and these two winners have not come forward to do so as yet.
The Mega Millions lottery drawing is conducted twice a week, every Tuesday and Friday and people in 45 US states, along with the Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia can participate.
