The US Mega Millions has updated the rules of the game! From now on the minimum jackpot will be $40 million instead of only $15 million. What Are The Odds Of Winning?
With the new minimum jackpot also come new rules and smaller odds. The odds of winning the jackpot used to be 1 in 258,890,850 and will be from now on 1 in 302,575,350 as the Mega Balls pool has been changed from 1 from 1 – 15 to 1 from 1 – 25. On the other hand, winning second and third prizes has become easier as the main number pool has been changed from 5/75 to 5/70 which has made the chance of winning 2nd and 3rd teir prizes easier. For example a division 2 prize worth up to $5 Million used to have winning odds of 1 in 18,492,204 and now instead has better chances of 1 in 12,607,306.

Keep in mind that if for example 302,575,350 tickets are sold for the draw, only 1 of them statistically will win the jackpot.
