The Mega Millions lottery draw was conducted on Friday, October 14th, 2022 and it had a massive jackpot of $494 million, which came with a cash option of $247.9 million.
The prize is the eleventh largest in the history of the Mega Millions lottery.

On Saturday morning, two people woke up as millionaires across the country from one another. This is because the Mega Millions lottery announced that there were two individuals who had won the massive jackpot.
The winning numbers for Friday night’s draw of the Mega Millions lottery were 09, 22, 26, 41 and 44, while 19 was the Mega Ball and 2x was the Megaplier.
According to the Mega Millions website, there were two lucky players who managed to match all the six numbers and the Mega Ball, which means that they will now split the huge prize in Friday night’s draw.
One of the lucky players is from California and the other one is in Florida. These two winners are also the first two ticket holders to share a grand prize in the Mega Millions lottery in five years.
It is also a great coincidence that the last time two winning tickets for the jackpot had been sold in the same draw had happened in 2017 on October 13th.
Other winners
It should be noted that the Mega Millions lottery draw on Friday night did not just see two players win the jackpot.
There were a number of other prizes that were also won in the draw, as there were a total of three people who became millionaires overnight.
The three players were able to hit the Match 5, which allowed them to win a prize of $1 million instantly. The tickets were sold in North Carolina, New Jersey and Texas.
However, the lucky winner in Texas had opted to buy the Megaplier option as well, which meant that they saw their winnings double from $1 million to $2 million.
Last winner
The jackpot for Friday night’s Mega Millions lottery drawing had been building since August 2nd. There had not been a winner for the grand prize since the drawing of the lottery on July 29th.
That was when the historic $1.334 billion jackpot had been won by a lucky player from Chicago, Illinois. A single ticket landed the prize, but two players had come forward to claim it and had chosen to remain anonymous.
Now, the next drawing of the Mega Millions lottery is scheduled for Tuesday, October 18th, 2022. The jackpot for the next drawing will once more reset and start at $20 million.
The Mega Millions draw is conducted every week, on Tuesday and Friday in 45 US States, the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands.
