On Friday, September 23rd, the Mega Millions lottery draw was conducted, which had a jackpot of $301 million and it came with a cash option of $159.1 million.
No winner for the jackpot
The winning numbers that were drawn on Friday night in the Mega Millions were 05, 50, 53, 58 and 64 with 22 being the gold Mega Ball and 4X was the Megaplier.
However, as it turned out, there were no winners for the jackpot on Friday, which means that the prize will now roll over to the next Mega Millions draw.
The next drawing for the Mega Millions lottery is scheduled for September 27th, Tuesday and it will have a jackpot of $325 million that comes with a cash value of $172.4 million.
Other prizes
While there were no winners for the grand prize in Friday night’s drawing, there were other smaller prizes that were won in the Mega Millions lottery.
There was one lucky ticketholder who was able to become a millionaire overnight and they belonged to Texas.
The player managed to hit the Match 5 and since they had also opted for the Megaplier, this meant that their winnings of $1 million were turned into $4 million.
Apart from this win, there were also sixteen other players who were lucky enough to hit the Match 4 and also the gold Mega Ball. This allowed them to land a prize of $10,000 each.
However, there were only two players who were able to increase their winnings because they opted for the Megaplier option with their ticket purchase.
Thanks to that, they were able to win $40,000 each. As for the rest of the prizes on Friday night, they were between $2 and $2,000.
The big win
The latest lottery drawing comes after it was announced that winners of the massive Mega Millions jackpot of $1.34 billion had finally come forward from Illinois to claim their prize.
Even though it was a single ticketholder who won the prize, two people had come forward to claim it and agreed to split the prize.
They opted to remain anonymous, as is allowed in Illinois, and had taken their time to consult with legal and financial advisors before deciding to claim the lump sum payment.
Mega Millions lottery players have the option of choosing between a lump sum payment of their prize, or an annuity that includes one immediate payment and 29 subsequent ones, with a 5% increase each year.
The Mega Millions lottery can be played in 45 states, the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands, every Tuesday and Friday.
