The massive Powerball lottery jackpot of $2.04 billion for the drawing on Monday, November 7th, was finally won this week.
Monday night’s drawing had been delayed till early Tuesday morning and a single ticket-holder from California became the winner of the largest lottery jackpot in the history of the Powerball and others.
It meant that the Powerball lottery jackpot for the next draw was reset for $20 million and this was scheduled for Wednesday, November 9th, 2022.
Jackpot rolls over
Before the Powerball lottery draw could be conducted on Wednesday night, the jackpot had increased from $20 million to $37.1 million and it came with a cash option of $15.7 million.
The winning numbers that were drawn in the Powerball lottery on Wednesday night were 07, 14, 24, 30 and 56, while 7 was the Powerball number and 2X was the Power Play.
Unfortunately, there were no players who were able to match the numbers to win the jackpot in the Powerball lottery on Wednesday night.
This means that it has now rolled over once more and has reached a value of $47 million and would come with a cash option of $23 million.
The next draw of the Powerball lottery is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 12th, 2022.
Other winners
Not only were there no grand prize winners in Wednesday night’s Powerball lottery drawing, it appeared that there were no instant millionaires either.
No player was able to hit the Match 5 that would have resulted in a prize of $1 million. Moreover, if any player had hit the Match 5 and also purchased the Power Play, their winnings would have doubled to $2 million.
There were 18 players who did manage to hit the Match 4 in Wednesday night’s Powerball lottery draw, along with the Powerball number.
Therefore, these players were able to walk away with $50,000 each. There were also six players who hit the Match 4, the Powerball number and also bought the Power Play option.
These lucky players were able to increase their winnings to $100,000 each. There were a total of one million tickets that were able to win prizes at different levels in the Powerball lottery draw on Wednesday night.
These total prizes were around $9.2 million.
No claim yet
It should be noted that the winner from California has not yet come forward to claim the huge $2.04 billion jackpot, but they have a long time before they have to do so.
Winners are generally advised to seek advice from an accountant and attorney before claiming the prize in order to prep themselves for the new wealth.
The store owner who sold the winning lottery ticket was also awarded a $1 million prize.
The Powerball Lottery drawings take place three times in a week, every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, in 45 states, along with District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands.
